I made a zine!
I'm making zines instead of feeding robots

I wrote this line a while ago: “I’m making zines instead of feeding robots,” and I thought I would put it into action.
I’ve become a little obsessed with zines lately, but I’m not alone. Many of us artists are trying to escape algorithms and AI. So I collected some poems and creative nonfiction I had about being creative despite everything, and I designed it quite nicely in Canva and put it up for sale for $3 or more on Ko-Fi and Patreon (free bonus if you’re a paying Patreon). I’m also open to zine swaps!
Right now it’s just a little 8-page PDF, but I’m looking into making it physical sometime.
This is fun and all but I am saving money for something Big and Important so…
What I’ve been reading lately…
Woodworking by Emily St. James: I’m about halfway through and I love it!
Lanternfly August by Robin Gow: Loved this poetry collection that gets experimental about how the plight of the lanternfly (remember them?) can draw parallels to being trans. (Fair disclosure that Robin is a friend.)
The First State of Being by Erin Entrada Kelly: Of course I had to read the new Newbery winner, and I’ve been wanting to read this since before it came out anyway. I don’t think it struck me as much as its predecessors like When You Reach Me (which it was directly inspired by, and which also won the Newbery…which was inspired by A Wrinkle in Time, another Newbery winner…) but I definitely would have had a great time with it as a kid.
